How Startpage Privacy Protection extension has made online privacy easy.

It’s been just over two months of using Startpage’s Privacy Protection extension and it’s made a definitive impact on my online privacy and personal data control. So, here’s a quick summary of my experience.

#1 AUTOMATIC TRACKER BLOCKING

40,000 trackers and 17,000 cookies blocked in 2+ months

This is my privacy report after 2+ months of using the extension on Firefox browser

This is my favorite tool within the extension because it immediately blocks 3rd party trackers and cookies on every website. I enjoy monitoring my privacy report located in the chart icon. The report shows me exactly how many trackers and cookies have been blocked and updates in real time. It also displays a pie chart summarizing the privacy scores across the websites I interact with. Apparently, I spend a lot of time on websites with a score of 2!

#2 DEFAULT PRIVATE SEARCH

Search directly from your address bar without having to question if your search is being tracked or monitored.

Being able to search directly in the address bar is a game changer and means that all of my searches are no longer tracked. Now I don’t have to think about toggling between search engines or going directly to Startpage.com. It’s so easy and reassuring.

#3 TRUE PRIVACY SCORES

The privacy scores make safely navigating the internet easy for any person independent of their technical experience.

The privacy scoring system uses a 1–5 system displaying the true score, meaning you can gauge how safe a website is with a glance. It’s useful on many levels, but I mainly utilize it to understand if I’m on a website that I should be more cautious about. If a site is a 1, I’m not sharing my personal or credit card information!

I use the extension on both Chrome and Firefox, click here to install.

It’s worth a try yourself, let me know what you think! @Kelly_Startpage
